IND vs WI: "This Is The Only Series Before Asia Cup, World Cup Where We Can Experiment": Ravindra Jadeja

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in the pre-match press conference ahead of the third ODI against West Indies opened up on the team’s continued experimentation in the series. India lost the second ODI as they kept Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli on the bench.

Team India now find themselves playing an ODI series decider against West Indies who recently failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup in India. The way India lost the second ODI, opened up a lot of questions in terms of India’s preparations for the ODI World Cup.

Addressing the pre-match press conference, Jadeja responded to questions thrown at him regarding India’s continued experimentation with the batting lineup.

“This is the only series before the Asia Cup and World Cup where we can experiment and change the combination. We cannot do many experiments in the World Cup and Asia Cup. This will give us an idea about the balance of the team, the possible combination and strength. This [series] is a good chance to do that” said Jadeja in the presser.

We Are Not Worried About One Loss: Ravindra Jadeja

He said that the second ODI loss did not hurt them as much as it is being talked about. He further said that the team is trying out new combinations.

“I don’t think so. We are trying something. We are trying different combinations. We have to look whether we can go ahead with the combination. We are not worried about one loss” Jadeja added further.

The Indian batting-order collapsed after being 91 for no loss to being bowled out for 181. West Indies, on the other hand, chased the target down in 36.4 overs. Jadeja said that the captain and the management know exactly what combination they are looking to play with.

“Overall, the management and captain are aware of what combination to play and what team we can play going ahead. There is no question of confusion. It is just about things like trying a batter at a particular number. This is what the management, captain, and coach are trying,” the all-rounder explained.

He concluded by defending India’s loss saying that the team did not lose just because of their experimentation and that other key factors also played a role in India’s loss.

“It is not that we lost because we experimented. Sometimes, the condition of the wicket is different in the first half and the second. That can also affect the result. There is no question of doubt being created due to one match,” Jadeja concluded saying.
