India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey feels that the pitch at Queen’s Park Oval Stadium in Trinidad is too flat. According to Paras Mhambrey, the wicket should not be too flat because it becomes too batting-friendly.

India piled up 438-10 in the 1st innings of the ongoing India vs West Indies 2nd Test. Virat Kohli (121) slammed a century and four other batsmen scored fifties. Yashasvi Jaiswal (57), Rohit Sharma (80), Ravindra Jadeja (61), and Ravichandran Ashwin (61) hit half-centuries to lead the team to a mammoth total.

The Pitch Is Very Slow, Very Easy For Batting: Paras Mhambrey

While speaking in the post-match press conference, India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey said the pitch in IND vs WI 2nd Test is very slow and very easy for batting.

“The pitch is very slow, very easy for batting. Towards the end, it started turning a bit. West Indies were defensive with the bat too. When there’s an attempt to play shots, there’s an opportunity to get a wicket but they didn’t even try that.

We were quite impressive, our bowlers did whatever was expected of them though. I think the pitch should be sporting. There has to be a balance – something for batters and bowlers,” Paras Mhambrey.

Hard To Take 10 Wickets On This Wicket: Paras Mhambrey

Mhambrey also added that the pitch shouldn’t be so flat because it becomes hard for bowlers to get success on such wickets.

“Yes, Dominica pitch had turn but we utilised the conditions better, the quality of our bowlers allowed us to use it well. On this pitch though it will be hard to take 20 wickets.

First target is to get them all out in the first innings and then see what lies ahead. Obviously, it’s hard work for bowlers on such wickets but yeah, they shouldn’t be so flat. It’s not entertaining, you want to get results”, the 51-year-old added.
