For the second game in a row, Ishan Kishan failed to deliver with the bat as he was dismissed cheaply in the ongoing second T20I between India and West Indies in Guyana.
The left-handed batsman had started the tour of the West Indies in a brilliant fashion by smashing four half-centuries in a row. He scored a quickfire fifty in the second innings of the second Test and followed it up with three half-centuries in as many games in the ODI series. However, Ishan Kishan has failed to sustain the same form in the ongoing T20I series.
In the first T20I in Trinidad, he was out for just 6 runs off 9 balls. Team India had gone on to lose the game by 4 runs while chasing 150 runs. The wicketkeeper-batsman had the chance to make amends in the ongoing second T20I but he failed to do so.
Romario Shepherd cleans up Ishan Kishan:
India skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bat first. The Men in Blue were off to a disastrous start as Shubman Gill (7) and Suryakumar Yadav (1) failed to get going with the bat. Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma stopped the rot but before the duo could bat India to a strong position, Romario Shepherd cleaned up the former to put West Indies back on top.
Ishan Kishan had got the start with the bat and was batting on 27 off 22 balls after hitting two fours and as many sixes. But before he could convert the start into a good score, Shepherd sent him back. On the third ball of the tenth over, Shepherd angled one in and managed to hit the top of the off stump.
The ball moved away at the last moment to beat Ishan Kishan’s outside edge. The southpaw was nowhere close to the line of the ball and paid the price for it.
