The 26-year-old West Indies National Cricket Team batter Shimron Hetmyer was unable to play a good innings for his side in the first ODI against India National Cricket Team and he got out after playing a poor shot.
The explosive batsman Hetmyer came to bat at No.5 after the home team lost their top order for low scores. Initially, Hetmyer looked decent in the middle and he had to take up the responsibility to bring the innings back on the track for West Indies.

However, the batter failed miserably as he played a poor shot to gift his wicket to the star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on Thursday, July 27, 2023.
On the 4th ball of the 16th over, Jadeja bowled a delivery on the middle stump and Hetmyer got low and premeditated the scoop shot. However, the ball turned and went past the bat to knock over the leg-stump. Hetmyer scored 11 runs off 19 balls, including 1 four.

Meanwhile, West Indies were bundled out for 114 runs in the match as Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja dismantled the batting unit of the hosts. This was the second-lowest total for West Indies in ODIs against India.
Captain Shai Hope fought hard against the Indian bowling attack, but no other batter of his team supported him. Hope was the top run-getter for his side with 43 runs under his belt while no other batter touched the 25-run mark.
