India National Cricket Team star opening batsman Shubman Gill made a massive blunder as he decided not to take a review for his LBW in the series-deciding fifth T20I clash against West Indies National Cricket Team at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill on Sunday, August 13.

On the fifth ball of the 3rd over, West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein, who had dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first over, trapped Gill LBW for a 9-ball 9. The spinner bowled an arm ball that drifted in and Gill went for the slog sweep but missed it altogether and got hit on the pads.

The on-field umpire raised his finger and gave Gill out. Shubman Gill was trapped in front and he decided against taking the review. Later the hawk-eye showed that the ball would’ve missed the leg stump.

I got many learnings from the West Indies tour- Shubman Gill

Speaking ahead of the match to host broadcaster, Shubman Gill said that he was delighted to hit his first fifty in the ongoing five-match series against West Indies. Shubman Gill said:

“Very happy with my score and happy to get a good start. First three matches we didn’t but yesterday it was good for the both of us to play like that.”

Shubman Gill also said that he learned a lot from the West Indies tour and was hopeful of using those learning on the next tour. He said:

[On learnings from the tour] Obviously a lot to learn, you’ve got to play according to the situation. We played in so many different venues. I got many learnings and hopefully when we come back next year hopefully we can use those learnings.”

Shubman Gill further said that he enjoyed batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the fourth T20I where they added 165 runs together.

” [On batting with Jaiswal] We enjoy batting together and lefty-righty combination makes it difficult for the opposition. [On the pitch] I think as the ball was hard and new it was not that difficult to bat but as the ball got old and because there was no grass on the wicket, it started to reverse a little bit and it was difficult to hit.”
