Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was surprised by a delivery from West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite during India’s first innings on Day 3 of the first Test. Jadeja immediately signalled towards the dressing room for a helmet after being beaten by the extra bounce.
India started Day 3 on 312/2 with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli at the crease. Yashasvi Jaiswal reached the milestone of 150 runs in his debut Test. However, the southpaw couldn’t convert it into a double hundred as he was dismissed for 171 runs by Alzarri Joseph.

Kraigg Brathwaite delivered a surprising ball with an extra bounce, leaving Ravindra Jadeja stunned. This incident took place in the 137th over of India’s innings. Jadeja came forward to play the ball but was completely deceived by the unexpected amount of deviation.
The ball missed the outside edge of Jadeja, and wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva collected it with outstretched arms. The southpaw, who was batting with a cap, immediately turned towards the dressing room and signalled for a helmet as a precautionary measure.

Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 37 as India declared their first innings at 421 runs for the loss of five wickets. In response, the West Indies were bowled out for just 130 runs in their second innings. The left-arm spinner picked up two wickets, while Ravichandran Ashwin took seven wickets.
The Rohit Sharma-led team defeated the West Indies by eight wickets and a margin of 141 runs in the series opener, completing the victory in just three days. The teams will now face each other in the second and final Test of the two-match series at the Queen’s Park Oval, starting on Thursday, July 20.
