Former cricketer-turned-commentator has made an emotional plea to West Indies fans after West Indies’ impressive series win over Team India in the recently-concluded five-match T20I series. Just over a month after failing to qualify for the ODI World Cup for the first time in their history, West Indies beat world number one T20I side India to show their potential.
On Sunday (August 13), the Caribbean outfit thrashed India by eight wickets in the fifth and final T20I to clinch the series 3-2. The Rovman Powell-led side thoroughly dominated the contest and won it with utmost ease in the end. Batting first on a good batting track, India managed to score 165 for 9 in the allotted 20 overs.
Suryakumar Yadav top-scored for the visitors, scoring 61 off 45 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes. For West Indies, Romario Shepherd starred with the ball as he picked up four wickets for 31 runs in his quota of four overs.
With the bat too, West Indies came up with a brilliant show to chase down the total with ease. The home side crossed the finishing line in just 18 overs and by losing only a couple of wickets. Opener Brandon King top-scored with an unbeaten knock of 85 runs while Nicholas Pooran (47) and Shai Hope (22*) also played crucial knocks.

After the loss in the World Cup Qualifier, Ian Bishop’s emotional video and photos had gone viral on the internet.
“I saw some tweets on social media about the state of West Indies Cricket from my friends and colleagues. I would want to remind them that when your friend is hurt, you don’t say get rid of them. You try to find out how to help them. Leave it,” Ian Bishop said after the series win over Team India.
