India won the first Test of the two-match series against the West Indies by a significant margin of 141 runs in Dominica on Friday, July 14. The Rohit Sharma-led team began their campaign in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle (2023-25) with a comprehensive victory.

The visitors dominated the hosts in all three departments in the series opener. The Men in Blue bowled out the opposition for 150 runs and 130 runs in the two innings, respectively. They batted only once in the match, scoring 421 runs for the loss of five wickets before declaring.

Ye Koun See Batting Kar Raha Hai – Virat Kohli

Indian fielders seemed to be in a playful mood during the West Indies’ batting . Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli expressed surprise at West Indies’ No. 11 batter Jomel Warrican’s shot selection. Virat Kohli’s comment, caught on the stump mic, was “What kind of shot is this?”

The incident occurred during the West Indies second innings when they were at 129/9. Jomel Warrican attempted a sweep shot in the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja but mistimed it. The ball went up in the air and landed in a vacant area between the wicketkeeper and fielder.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Awarded Player Of The Match

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravichandran Ashwin helped the team win the match within three days and take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Yashasvi Jaiswal was named Player of the Match for his brilliant century of 171 runs off 387 balls, which included 16 boundaries and a maximum.

Ravichandran Ashwin picked up a five-wicket haul in the first innings, followed by seven wickets in the second innings. The veteran off-spinner ended the match with impressive bowling figures of 12/131, which is his eighth 10-wicket match haul for India in the longer format of the game.
