Former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan expressed his disappointment with Ishan Kishan’s dismissal during Day 2 of the second Test against the West Indies. Zaheer Khan highlighted that Ishan Kishan got off to a good start but missed the opportunity to convert it into a big knock.
Ishan Kishan came to bat at No. 7 when the team’s score was 341-5 at Port of Spain in Trinidad on Friday, July 21. The left-handed batter scored 25 runs off 37 balls before being dismissed by Jason Holder. The Rohit Sharma-led team put up a total of 438 runs in their first innings.
Ishan Kishan Will Be Disappointed – Zaheer Khan
Speaking to Jio Cinema, Zaheer Khan criticized Ishan Kishan’s shot selection and said that he played like it was a white-ball cricket match.
“He started the knock well. So he will be extremely disappointed because once you have played 30-40 deliveries and scored 25 runs, you have gotten your eye in. In Test matches, it is said that it is not a problem if you get out at the start,” Zaheer said.
“However, if you get out like this, especially the shot he played, the T20 or white-ball effect was seen in that, so he will be disappointed with that because he had an excellent opportunity to play a good knock today,” he added.

It Was An Extremely Good Knock – Zaheer Khan
The cricketer-turned-commentator praised Ravichandran Ashwin, saying he added crucial runs at the end despite not getting support from the other end.
“It was an extremely good knock because the more runs you can add at such a stage, the better it is. When the team’s score goes past 400, it becomes easier for you,” he further stated.
“Ashwin played a very good innings. He knew he won’t get that much support from the other end. So he was trying harder as he knew that the quicker he scores, it would be that better,” he concluded.
Ravichandran Ashwin scored a quick-fire half-century of 56 runs off 78 deliveries. The veteran off-spinner added important runs with Jaydev Unadkat, Mohammed Siraj, and Mukesh Kumar before being dismissed by Kemar Roach.
