Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali said that Bangladesh is unlikely to challenge Team India in the ongoing three-match T20I series. Basit Ali said that the Men in Blue, led by Suryakumar Yadav, can win the upcoming second T20I match and seal the series against Bangladesh with one match remaining.
India Can Also Play Any Other Kids - Basit Ali
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Basit Ali said that Bangladesh is not strong enough to pose a serious challenge to India. Basit said that if India wins the second match and secures the series, they could afford to experiment by playing less experienced players in the third T20I.
"The truth is that there Bangladesh are no match for India. In fact, after winning the second match, India can also play any other kids who are left," Basit said.
Bangladesh Outplayed By Team India In First T20I Match
Bangladesh managed to score only 127 runs in 19.5 overs after being asked to bat first. Mehidy Hasan Miraz (35*) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (27) made decent contributions for the visitors. Arshdeep Singh (3/14) and Varun Chakravarthy (3/31) played a crucial role in restricting Bangladesh to a low total.
India played with an aggressive approach throughout the run chase. Sanju Samson (29), Abhishek Sharma (16), and Suryakumar Yadav (29) provided a flying start in the powerplay. Hardik Pandya (39* off 16) and Nitish Reddy (16*) completed the chase with an unbeaten 52-run stand for the fourth wicket.
Saw What Happened In The Test Series - Basit Ali
Basit Ali said that even an IPL XI could have easily beaten Bangladesh in the first T20I. He pointed out that the current Indian team rested key players like Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Axar Patel, and Rishabh Pant. He said that India outplayed Bangladesh, who whitewashed Pakistan 2-0 in a Test series.
"Is this the same Bangladesh that whitewashed Pakistan? You saw what happened in the Test series. They lost the first Test and then lost the second within two days. Even the rain couldn't save them. And then they were outclassed in the first T20I as well," Basit added.
"This is not the Indian team, it's IPL XI. The likes of Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Axar Patel and Rishabh Pant were not there. Even Shreyas Iyer, who isn't a regular in India's T20I team isn't part of this squad. Ravi Bishnoi also didn't play this match," he opined.
It is worth mentioning that India is without Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Shubman Gill for the T20I series against Bangladesh. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and fast bowler Mayank Yadav made their international debut for India during the opening T20I match.
India and Bangladesh are set to compete in the second T20I of their three-match series. This match will take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, October 9.
