Parthiv Patel, the former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman hailed India's T20 World Cup win as a near-perfect World Cup campaign. Team India remained unbeaten in the entire tournament.

In the process, they became the first team to win an ICC T20 World Cup remaining unbeaten. This was India's second T20 World Cup win, their first since winning the inaugural World Cup in 2007. This was also India's first ICC title since 2013 when they won the ICC Champions trophy under MS Dhoni's captaincy.

Parthiv Patel summed up India's T20 World Cup 2024 campaign as a near-perfect campaign speaking about the various facets of the team. He spoke about the playing combination, selection, and rejection of a few players, and how a few not-so-popular names performed in the match.

"You can also call this a perfect campaign for Team India. Even before the tournament started, there were question marks on the selection of a few players, Shivam Dube, and Rinku Singh, India's game plan to include four spinners. There was a lot of planning done as to what kind of pitches the team will play and the selection was done based on that. When the things that were planned are executed properly and that leads to a World Cup win, nothing can be better than that" said Parthiv.

The former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman further said that Insdia deserved to win the final as they held their nerves and used their skillset better than the South African team who on the day of the final was not as good as India.

The Match Was Worthy Of A Final: Parthiv Patel

"Both the teams played like world champions in this tournament. This was worthy of a final as the final went right down till the final over and it was a riveting contest. India won the final in the end as they showed their skillset better than the opposition and handled the pressure better than the opposition as well" Patel concluded saying.

South Africa at one point needed 30 off the final five overs in the chase. From there on the equation came down to 16 off the final over as the Indin bowlers picked up key wickets and kept the pressure on the South African pacer who once again succumbed to the pressure.

The wicket of Heinrich Klaasen (52) turned the game in India's favor. Hardik Pandya dismissed him with a slower delivery. He then came back to bowl the final over and dismissed David Miller and Kagiso Rabada to put an end to the hopes of a South African win.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their T20I retirements almost immediately after India's T20 World Cup triumph. Ravindra Jadeja also announced his T20I retirement on Sunday as he also bid goodbye to the format.

India's Greatest Victory: Rohit Sharma

Rohit in his post-match chat hailed this World Cup win as his greatest achievement as captain. India lost the WTC final and the ODI World Cup final in 2023 under Rohit Sharma's captaincy. He was very vocal and determined to win a World Cup title for India which he finally did.
