Devajit Saikia praised the Indian teams and said India’s recent gold medal victory showed the strength of the team in white-ball cricket. He also pointed towards India’s strong reserve bench, which has allowed the team to perform well across different tournaments and formats.
India has also been dominating the ODI series against the West Indies at the same time. Along with the Asian Games gold medals, victories in the men’s and women’s Asia Cups have added to India’s recent success in white-ball cricket.
Saikia was quoted as saying by ANI, "Very wonderful. India has now become a superpower in world white-ball cricket. We are winning every tournament. I think at the same time, our team played in ODIs against the West Indies, and today, here in the Asian Games as well. This shows how strong our reserve bench is right now in white-ball cricket."

Devajit Saikia salutes players and support staff
Devajit Saikia gave credit to both the players and support staff for the Asian Games triumph and said the achievement had made the entire country proud.
The BCCI secretary added, “All the players deserve full credit, and all the support staff deserve full credit for the victory. It has made the whole country very proud.”
With both men’s and women’s teams winning gold, India’s total medal tally reached 81 medals, including 19 gold, 26 silver, and 36 bronze at the Asian Games 2026. Amid this, Abhishek Sharma reveals India’s plan that helped them beat Pakistan in Asian Games final.

India won the toss in the final at Korogi Sports Park, and captain Shreyas Iyer decided to bat first. India posted a huge 211/6, with Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma leading the batting charge.
India lost Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for 15 and Sanju Samson for 4 early. However, Abhishek completely changed the game by smashing 61 runs from only 28 balls, hitting seven sixes and three fours. He reached his half-century in just 20 balls, the fastest fifty by an Indian against Pakistan in T20Is.
After Abhishek’s dismissal, Tilak Varma took control during the death overs. He formed an important 62-run sixth-wicket partnership with Shivam Dube, giving India the perfect finish. Tilak remained unbeaten on 51 from 22 balls, while Dube added 27 from 15 balls.
Their late hitting helped India give Pakistan a huge target of 212 runs. Pakistan did not surrender easily in the chase. Hasan Nawaz produced a stunning counterattack and scored 96 runs from 51 balls. But Indian spinners and all-rounders didn’t let the game slip away.
