India will get their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign underway this week. They will take on Bangladesh in the second game of the tournament. The game is scheduled to be played on Thursday (February 20) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.
India are coming into this tournament on the back of a fine series win over England. The Men in Blue whitewashed the English outfit in the three-match series and will look to start their Champions Trophy campaign on a winning note as well.
So, as India gears up for their game against Bangladesh, we are taking a look at the India Playing 11.
India Playing 11 vs Bangladesh- ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Match 2:
Openers: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are set to be the openers in the India Playing 11 for the upcoming game against Bangladesh. Rohit failed to get going in two of the three games against England but scored a century in the second ODI to find some much-needed rhythm. He will be keen to lead India from the front in the upcoming game.
On the other hand, Gill was one of the best batsmen during the series. He finished the series as the highest run-scorer, scoring 259 runs in 3 games with the help of a century and two fifties.
Middle-order batsmen and allrounders: Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, KL Rahul (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja
Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul are set to be the specialist batsmen in the India playing 11 middle order while Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya, and Ravindra Jadeja are expected to be the all-rounders.
Kohli played two ODIs against England and managed to hit a fifty in the second outing. The former India skipper has faced criticism in recent times for his form and will look to deliver in the marquee event.
Unlike Kohli, Iyer was in sublime form during the three-match ODI series against England. The right-handed batsman got runs in all the three ODIs and India will be hoping that he continues his rich vein of form against Bangladesh as well. Iyer scored 59, 44, and 78 in three games against England.
KL Rahul looked a bit rusty against England in the first two games but managed to get some much-needed runs under his belt in the third ODI. He scored 40 runs in the final game and will be eyeing a strong start to his Champions Trophy campaign.
All of India's three all-rounders managed to impress against England. Axar scored over 100 runs including a fifty and picked up 3 wickets while Jadeja picked up 6 wickets. On the other hand, Pandya claimed 3 wickets.
Bowlers: Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Harshit Rana
India are likely to have two frontline pacers and one specialist spinner in India playing 11 for the Bangladesh clash. Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana are set to lead the pace attack while Kuldeep Yadav is expected to be the frontline spinner in the India Playing 11.
Shami did not look at his best in the two ODIs that he played against England earlier this month and will look to start the tournament on a better note.
On the other hand, Rana had a decent outing as he picked up six wickets in three games. Kuldeep picked up 2 wickets in as many games against England but is likely to get the nod ahead of Varun Chakravarthy.
