India T20 squad for Asia Cup 2025 announced; Shubman Gill shown exit door

Former Indian cricketer and analyst Aakash Chopra predicts his formidable 15-member India squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, as he leaves out the likes of Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj and dares to include even more unlikely names, such as Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
The Indian side will be advancing to feature in the upcoming Asia Cup next year. With less than three weeks left, Indian selectors are expected to announce the squads soon. This time, there have been immense tensions built around team selections, especially with the decision of captaincy.
As per reports until now, Shubman Gill is only likely to enter the Indian Team while Suryakumar Yadav will continue as the skipper of the Indian side for the shortest format of the game. However, even Gill's arrival would bring some drastic changes to the squad.
Indian Squad for Asia Cup 2025 picked; Shubman Gill left out
Former Indian player turned Cricket analyst, Aakash Chopra, makes a bold prediction by picking his 15-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. Though the player cannot influence selections, his team looks very balanced and has provided equal importance to all sections.
The opening pair has been left intact, with Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma still sitting at the top, while Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav follow them in the middle order. However, the No. 5 is an audacious call by Chopra, since Indian selectors have shown no such inclination.
Punjab Kings skipper makes his cut to the Indian T20I middle order; however, his comeback before the Asia Cup 2025 doesn't seem a very likely decision. He then placed 3 all-rounders in the team with Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar.
The bowling deck looked very obvious with Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Sing,h and Varun Chakravarthy.

Aakash Chopra credits players' IPL performances as a criterion for selection
While picking the squad, Chopra made it clear with his Instagram post that having had a good season in the IPL is one of the major criteria used by him to pick the remaining players in the side.
He left out the likes of Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube, who have been part of India's T20 squad for a long time but have performed very poorly in the last IPL. Shreyas Iyer, with a strong show in the IPL, instead makes it to his Asia Cup 2025 squad.
He named Prasidh Krishna, Jitesh Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yashasvi Jaiswal as the players other than the playing XI, as all these players impressed with their dominance in the IPL group stage games. While Krishna and Kuldeep were in the race for the purple cap, Jitesh was a staunch finisher for RCB, and Jaiswal stood firm as the highest run-getting RR batter.

No big surprises in Akash Chopra's revealed India Squad
Aakash Chopra, except for bringing in Shreyas Iyer, did not do something very audacious; he even left out the likes of Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj, as many have questioned the need for Gill in the current T20I setup.
Possibly with a hectic schedule ahead with the red ball, Mohammed Siraj has not been considered for the Asia Cup 2025, since the tournament ends just at the brink of the West Indies red-ball tour.
Indian Test skipper Gill also does not seem necessary in the T20I setup despite his brilliance portrayed in the IPL and the Test series against England.
