India T20 Squad for Zimbabwe 2024

After the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024, India will visit Zimbabwe for a T20I series. The series will take place in July 2024 and commence with the opening game on July 6. The India vs Zimbabwe series will only comprise a T20I series.

During India's tour of Zimbabwe 2024, India and Zimbabwe will clash in 5 T20I games. The opening game will be played on Saturday, June 6 at Harare Sports Club Stadium in Harare City- the capital of Zimbabwe. The other four games will also take place at the same venue on July 7, 10, 13, and 14.

The official India T20 squad for the Zimbabwe series has been announced by BCCI. Shubman Gill will be captaining the Indian team in Zimbabwe.

India and Zimbabwe are two old competitors in the shortest format and first faced each other in a T20I game in 2010. However, over the years, India and Zimbabwe have faced each other in only 8 T20I games. Interestingly, Zimbabwe has won 2 games against India while India has won the rest 6 matches.

Zimbabwe has never defeated India in a T20I series

Zimbabwe has never defeated India in a T20I series. Both sides have played three T20I series in 2010, 2015, and 2016. The Men-in-Blue won the first and the last series, the other one in 2015 ended in a draw with both teams winning one game each.

Shockingly, India and Zimbabwe will take on each other in a T20I bilateral series against 2016. However, both sides played an ODI series last year in August, where India bagged a 3-0 whitewash. Indian Team is currently part of ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and the IND vs ZIM series takes place next month.

Since Zimbabwe is quite a weaker team than India, the latter is expected to send a second-string squad. Notably, players part of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will not be part of the Zimbabwe series since they already had a hectic schedule with IPL 2024 and the World Cup. Hence, other players will get a place in the squad.
