According to Cricket Pakistan reports India will be hosting the Men's Asia Cup 2025. India are the defending champion of the tournament having won the last edition in 2023. The 2025 edition will be played in the T20I format.

Meanwhile, reports further added that Bangladesh will host the 2027 edition of the Asia Cup to be played in the 50-over format. Interestingly, India have never hosted the Asia Cup tournament over the years.

The tournament that started in 1984 has been hosted by Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and even UAE previously but not India. This is the first time India will host the event.

India won the 2023 edition of the tournament under Rohit Sharma who led India to the World Cup final too last year. In 2024, he led India to T20 World Cup glory and ended India's ICC title drought. He is expected to lead India in the 2025 Asia Cup as well.

Problems For India As Asia Cup 2025 Hosts

Meanwhile, the biggest problem with India hosting the 2025 Men's Asia Cup will be whether Pakistan players will travel to India for the tournament. The PCB is making all possible efforts to ensure India travels to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan players have said that their players should not travel to India if the Indian players do not come to play in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

Both the Men's Asia Cup 2025 and 2027 will feature six teams: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and a sixth team determined through a qualifying event.

The next Women's Asia Cup will also be played in the T20 format in 2026. The announcement was confirmed by a statement from the Asian Cricket Council press release via an Invitation for Expressions of Interest (IEOI) document on Saturday.

The document has asked interested parties to submit their IEOI for ACC Sponsorship Rights from 2024 to 2027. The document mentions all details related to the host, venues, and dates of the Asia Cup 2025 edition.

India are the proud eight-time winner of the tournament. They humbled Sri Lanka in the 2023 Asia Cup final bowling them out for just 50 runs. Mohammed Siraj, the Indian pacer took 6/21 in the final which remains his best bowling figure in ODI cricket. Jasprit Bumrah took one and Hardik Pandya took three wickets in the final.

India chased down the target of 51 and won the match by 10 runs. Openers Shubman Gill (27*) and Ishan Kishan (23*) got to the target inside 6.1 overs to register a commanding victory. It was India's eighth Asia Cup title win in 16 editions.

Speaking of the Women's Asia Cup, Sri Lanka won their first Women's Asia Cup title after beating India in the final on Sunday. The Lankan bowlers first restricted the Indian team to 165/6. The Lankan skipper led the charge with the bat as she scored 61 off 43 balls.
