Australian cricket icon David Warner has sparked massive excitement across the cricket world with his bold prediction for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Months before the tournament begins in India and Sri Lanka, David Warner confidently predicted the repeat of the ICC World Cup 2023 final in the T20 edition of the upcoming showpiece event.
The former Australian opener and World Cup winner has boldly claimed that the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 final will once again see the fierce battle between India and Australia—the same two sides that clashed in the 2023 ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad.

However, it was a heartbreak for the Men in Blue as Warner and the Australian side thrashed the hosts by six wickets to lift their record sixth title, having previously lifted the silverware in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2015.
However, Warner avoided predicting the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 winner. David Warner said on-air during the first India vs. Australia T20I in Canberra, “I think we will get India vs Australia in the final again at the T20 World Cup 2026.”
The former left-hander has made this sensational prediction while commentating on the first T20I between India and Australia in Canberra on Wednesday, October 29. The Men in Blue will enter the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 as the defending champions, with Sri Lanka being the co-host.
Both nations have been in top form in recent years, with India’s explosive batting lineup and Australia’s fierce all-round depth making them strong contenders to dominate the tournament. In the last editions, the Kangaroos failed to make it to the semifinals in the USA and the Caribbean.
David Warner predicts la ong future for Virat Kohli in ODIs
Earlier, the former Australian opener also shared his views on Virat Kohli’s ODI future. Before the third and final ODI between India and Australia in Sydney, fans witnessed a heartwarming moment between two cricket greats. Warner was seen catching up with Kohli after a long time, and their friendly exchange quickly caught everyone’s attention.
During their chat, Warner couldn’t help but admire Kohli’s incredible fitness and energy. Even at 36, Kohli continues to impress with his lightning-fast running between the wickets and sharp fielding skills. His fitness levels and commitment to the game left Warner impressed.
However, the former Indian captain only plays ODI cricket; there’s still a strong belief among fans and experts that he has a lot more to offer to the game. Many are hopeful to see him in action at the ICC World Cup 2027, and Warner believes that Kohli could extend his career even beyond that event.

He can play until he’s 50: David Warner
Warner said on Kayosports: “I had not seen Virat Kohli in a fair while, so I just embraced him, gave him a handshake and hug, and just asked how he and the family were doing. We spoke a little about cricket, then I told him he looks super fit and can play until he’s 50.”
