The first Test between India and Bangladesh is due to start in a few days at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The preparations from both sides are in full swing.

The hosts will be aiming to win both matches of the series and claim full points for their World Test Championship (WTC) final chances.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh will be looking to carry their good form from the historic Test series win in Pakistan. Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir know very well that the series is not going to be an easy one.

As a result, they have decided to unleash a surprise weapon in the first Test match. The plan is based on the young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

But instead of using his batting skills, Gambhir and Rohit Sharma are looking to make some use of his leg-spin bowling.

Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir's plan to use Yashasvi Jaiswal

In a video uploaded by Jio Cinema, the host players were training ahead of the first Test. However, to everyone's surprise, Yashasvi Jaiswal was seen rolling his arm over for his leg-spin bowling.

Jaiswal bowled to Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja and could also end up being their bowling partner in the match. Alongside being a solid opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal is a part-time legspinner as well. Jaiswal bowled a long spell in the nets after completing his batting session. It is expected that he will bowl at some time during the match.

If he bowls, it will be a huge bonus for the bowling stocks which has just one allrounder in the form of Ravindra Jadeja. With Ashwin's off-spin, Jadeja's left-arm spin, and Kuldeep's left-arm wrist spin, Jaiswal's right-arm leg spin can complete India's spin attack.

Is the Chepauk pitch expected to turn?

Yashasvi Jaiswal's bowling practice in the nets also means the hosts expect the pitch to turn. Over the years, Chennai has been a paradise for the spinners and it is expected to be the same in this match as well.

Jaiswal can also take some pressure off India's legendary spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja by rolling his arm over. In the heat of Chennai, it will be important for the players to remain fresh and hydrated, and it will be a test for them.

India's shifting focus towards part-timers

Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team is shifting its focus to having more part-time bowling options. This was also evident in Gautam Gambhir's maiden stint as India's head coach in Sri Lanka where several batters bowled some overs.

This was not so much during Rahul Dravid's tenure as specialist bowlers were focused upon during that time. However, Gambhir had earlier made his statement clear that the batters have to bowl some overs to ease the pressure off the bowlers.

In the final T20I against Sri Lanka, Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh bowled the last two overs to end the match in a dramatic tie. Later, India went on to win the match in the Super Over.
