Indian all-rounder Axar Patel has credited his success in the Test series against England to his close friends, and family who have been supportive throughout his tough times. Axar Patel continued his rich vein of form with the ball and was almost unplayable in the day-night Test at the new stadium in Ahmedabad. He has now taken three fifers in just the two Tests he has played.
Axar finished with a match haul of 11 wickets for 70 runs in the third test and paved the way for an Indian win to take a 2-1 lead in the series with one test to go. The third test win for India has also ruled out the hopes of England in the world test championship final, and the last test will decide if India or Australia make it through to Lords. India needs to make sure that they don’t lose the final test, which will take them to the finals against New Zealand.
“I Knew That I Need To Wait For The Right Time” – Axar Patel
Axar Patel owed his success in the recent tests against England to his friends and family who have helped him get through the tough phases. He told that he had many questions going around about his place in the Indian team and waited for the right opportunity by consistently performing for India A and in IPL. He added that he has been working on his game in both departments which was evident in the third test.
“When I was out of Team India for three years, I used to think about how can I work on my game to improve my bowling and batting. Many friends continued to ask why I wasn’t in the team when I was performing consistently in the IPL and for India A, so these questions were in my mind,”
“But I knew that I need to wait for the right time and give my 100 per cent whenever I get a chance. My friends and family have helped me a lot in the past 2-3 years, and you (Hardik) are also one of them. I learned a lot on how to tackle the tough phase, so I credit them for supporting them during my tough time,” Axar Patel said.
Hardik Praises Axar For His Hardwork
Hardik Pandya mentioned the amount of effort Axar has been doing to make his debut and praised him for waiting patiently in the wings. Axar added that confidence is a key factor in test cricket and missing the lengths might make it even harder. Axar’s incoming delivery with the arm was very hard to pick and he bowled in the right areas consistently asking a lot of questions to the batsman.
“For Axar we have been waiting for his debut for a long time and the way he has made it we feel very proud of him. He has done a lot of hard work,” Hardik said
“Everyone has me that is Test cricket easy but when you even miss a full toss you get to that playing Test cricket isn’t that easy. I think it’s all about confidence,” Axar added.
Axar Patel almost produced a hattrick but ended up taking three wickets in four balls and strangled the Indian batsman totally.
