As India completed the Test match win and wrapped up the series against England in Ahmedabad, legendary Indian batsman, Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to congratulate Virat Kohli’s side for their ‘fantastic victory’ and for reaching the final of the World Test Championship to be played in June at Lord’s against New Zealand.

After a high of conquering Australia, the Indian team suffered a blip when they lost to England in the opening Test of the series in Chennai. However, by winning the next three Test matches with significant margins – 317 runs, 10 wickets, an innings, and 25 runs – Kohli’s team showed why they are an invincible force at home; India is undefeated in Test series at home since 2013.

Sachin Tendulkar names 5 key players for India in the series

While Sachin Tendulkar applauded the team in its entirety for a comeback victory in the series, however, he did mention 5 players – Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Rohit Sharma – as key contributors for the triumph.

Rishabh Pant has been in terrific form since Australia – 544 runs in 7 matches at 60.44 – so has been R Ashwin, Rohit Sharma, and Washington Sundar. Axar Patel had a dream debut series picking up 27 wickets at an unreal bowling average of 10.59.

Ashwin, Axar, and Pant grabbed a Man of the Match award in the three victories while Ashwin also takes home the Man of the Series award – his 8th –  for snaring 32 wickets and a hundred. Rohit Sharma set up the win in the second Chennai Test with his attacking ton, and Sundar may not have got the number of wickets like Ashwin and Axar, however, he repaid the faith of the management by scoring crucial late-order runs, and unfortunately missed his century twice being left stranded on 85* and 96*.

“Fantastic victory Team India! Many congratulations on reaching the WTCFinal. Absolutely enjoyed the way each player contributed in every department throughout the series, especially Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin & Rohit Sharma,” tweeted Sachin Tendulkar.
