The Bangladesh National Cricket Team has improved in the last few months. They have done well in the Test format, first beating Pakistan and then Australia in Australia, and drawing the series. As per reports, Pakistan is planning to play the Bangla Tigers in January 2027, and at the same time, Bangladesh is planning to host India as well.
Pakistan National Cricket Team has been in poor form across formats. They recently lost to India National Cricket Team once again in a major event, as they won the silver medal in the Asian Games after losing to their arch-rivals. They are bottom-placed in the World Test Championship (WTC) Table and have been struggling in ODIs as well.
India vs Pakistan fight for Bangladesh ODI tour
As per Bangladesh media reports, there has been an India vs Pakistan battle this time, with the Men in Green fighting for a five-match ODI series against the Bangla Tigers in January 2027 as preparation for the ODI World Cup 2027. But the Tigers, on the other hand, have other plans, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is planning to organize games against the Men in Blue.

The series between the Men in Blue and the Tigers was initially postponed from August 2025 due to diplomatic tensions, and a later proposed window for September 2026 faced uncertainty. Now, after the easing of tensions, Tamim Iqbal has been in direct contact with his Ministry of Foreign Affairs to engage in direct talks with Indian counterparts to clear the path for the tour.
Who will Bangladesh host in January?
The BCB will have a headache in organizing both tours, as Pakistan is also interested, and if the BCB gets clearance from the Indian government, then it will be a battle between two arch-rivals of Asian cricket. As of now, nothing has been confirmed on both tours, but it will be interesting to watch what the BCB decides on the tours.
As of now, there is a tri-series lined up between the Bangla Tigers, Zimbabwe and Afghanistan, where each side plays each other once and then the top two teams play in the final. This is going to be an interesting series given the fact that all teams have qualified for the ODI World Cup 2027, which is scheduled in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
Bangladesh and Pakistan's chance to qualify for the Super 7s of the ODI World Cup
The Bangla Tigers have been drawn in the group of death of the ODI World Cup 2027, as they have England, co-host South Africa, New Zealand, and Qualifier B. This is a tough group for the side that has been doing decently in the ODIs and will look to upset some teams in the major tournament.
On the other hand, Pakistan has been drawn alongside Afghanistan, Australia, India, co-hosts Zimbabwe, and Qualifier A. With the form the Men in Green are in, it is difficult for them to qualify for the Super 7s as Afghanistan can edge past them by being on top of their game in the 50-over format.
