The upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 between archrivals Pakistan and India has generated immense interest, with ticket demand far exceeding availability. The ICC has confirmed that ticket applications for the India-Pakistan clash have exceeded expectations.

India is placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and the United States for the upcoming World Cup, which is set to be played in June. The Men in Blue will face the Pakistan team at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 9.

The highly anticipated clash in New York has generated an extraordinary level of interest, with ticket requests surpassing capacity by 200 times in the public ballot. Ticket applications for the event opened through a public ballot and closed on February 7.

The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Long Island, a 34,000-seat temporary venue, has yet to be completed. Despite this, tickets have already sold out, demonstrating the high anticipation for the encounter between the two neighboring cricket teams.

The upcoming international cricket tournament marks the first time such an event will be held in the United States. A total of 16 matches will be played across the United States, including venues in Lauderhill, South Florida, and Grand Prairie Stadium near Dallas.

We Had Amazing Ticket Interest – CEO of T20 World Cup

Brett Jones, CEO of T20 World Cup USA, expressed excitement over the overwhelming ticket interest, emphasizing the significant demand witnessed during the ballot process.

“We had amazing ticket interest. The ballot process showed there’s a really big demand,” Brett Jones told AFP on Friday.

“India-Pakistan is obviously a game that at every World Cup carries great interest. I think it’s really pleasing to see those two countries come to the USA,” he added.

They Deserve To See The Best Players – Brett Jones

Brett Jones emphasized the importance of honoring cricket fans and providing them with the opportunity to witness elite-level matches firsthand. He highlighted the goal of sparking interest and curiosity about cricket among broader audiences in the United States.

“I think, number one, we want to celebrate those that are already fanatical lovers of cricket. They deserve to see the best players in the world come into their backyard and have that chance,” said Jones.

“So, number one, we want to make sure that happens and they get to feel like they’re close to a game they love. Number two, I think it’s about spiking curiosity in the game,” he said.

A total of 20 nations will participate in the upcoming ICC event, scheduled from June 4 to 30. These teams will be divided into four groups, each consisting of five teams, with the top two from each group advancing to the subsequent stage of the tournament.

In the second round, the eight remaining teams will form two groups, each comprising four teams. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semifinals, with the winners of these matches competing in the final in Barbados on June 30.
