India Women kickstart World Cup 2025 hunt with camp in Vizag

The India Women’s cricket team will undergo a week-long preparatory camp in Visakhapatnam ahead of the 2025 ODI World Cup. Players are expected to report on August 24, and the camp will serve as preparation for the three-match ODI series against Australia leading up to the tournament at home.
India announced its 15-member World Cup squad along with five reserves. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and chief selector Neetu David attended the press conference in Mumbai. Shafali Verma was not included in the main squad but will feature in the India ‘A’ team for the World Cup warm-up matches.
India Women’s Team to Begin World Cup 2025 Prep Camp in Visakhapatnam
The India Women’s World Cup squad will undergo the preparatory camp in Visakhapatnam along with six standby players. Sayali Satghare, who has been included in the ODI squad for the Australia series, will make way for all-rounder Amanjot Kaur in the main World Cup team.
According to Cricbuzz, the camp is scheduled to begin on August 25, with the team asked to report a day earlier. However, the official timetable has not yet been released.
Players from the India A squad, who are currently involved in an unofficial Test against Australia A, may also join the camp at a later stage. Radha Yadav, leading India A in Brisbane, is expected to report to the camp after the match concludes on August 24.
India Women to Play Key World Cup Matches in Visakhapatnam
The India Women’s team has strategically chosen Visakhapatnam for their preparatory camp. They will face South Africa on October 9 and defending champions Australia on October 12 at the ACA-VDCA Stadium.
Visakhapatnam will host five of India’s group-stage matches. The camp will allow the squad to fine-tune strategies and adapt to the coastal conditions.
Intra-squad matches under lights are also expected before a short break, ahead of India’s home series against Australia starting on September 14 in Mullanpur. This camp marks the team’s final preparation ahead of the World Cup, beginning on September 30, 2025.

India to Face Sri Lanka in Opening Match of 2025 Women’s World Cup
India will open their campaign in the 2025 Women’s World Cup against co-hosts Sri Lanka on September 30 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. A total of eight teams will compete in the league stage, with the top four sides advancing to the semi-finals. The final is set to take place on November 2.
India will face Pakistan in Colombo on October 5, South Africa on October 9, and Australia on October 12 in Visakhapatnam, England on October 19 in Indore, New Zealand on October 23 in Navi Mumbai, and Bangladesh on October 26 in Navi Mumbai.
Pakistan will play all their matches in Colombo. The first semi-final will be on October 29 in Navi Mumbai, and the second semi-final on October 30, with the venue depending on Pakistan’s progression.
