Indian Batsmen Need Not Worry Much Against England As The Pitches Will Be Drier In August-September: Sunil Gavaskar

Former Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar remains unfazed by India’s unsettled batting line-up, exposed by New Zealand in the ICC World Test Championship final in Southampton. Indian captain Virat Kohli did not have the most desired start to the English sojourn as he was unsuccessful in capturing the ICC World Test Championship, with the Kiwis winning by eight wickets. But Sunil Gavaskar expects dry pitches in England this summer, causing their pacers to be ineffective.
Before beating India in the World Test Championship final in Southampton, New Zealand secured a Test series victory against England, who suffered their first home series defeat in seven years. England’s problems lied in both batting and bowling as they were not able to perform in both facets effectively. Despite the likely availability of many first-choice cricketers, England could lose to India this summer.

Sunil Gavaskar believes that India has hardly anything to be worried about against England since the sun would be out by August-September, causing the pitches to be drier. The 71-year old also conceded that if the visiting batsmen could negate the opening spell of James Anderson and Stuart Broad, they are likely to struggle in the spells moving forward.
“Indian batsmen need not worry about the series against England in August-September as the sun will be out by then and the pitches will be drier and with the greatest of respect, if Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad don’t get wickets in their first spell, they struggle in their next spells,” Gavaskar wrote in his column for The Telegraph.
The English summer has begun with disappointment: Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar agrees that even though India has begun their England summer disappointingly, he believes that their disappointment will fuel the determination in them to bounce back.
“The English summer has begun with disappointment [for India] but when disappointment fuels determination then fortunes can be turned and that’s the attitude this talented team need to make this a truly Indian summer,” he added.
