Shubman Gill breaks silence on Rohit Sharma's toss-losing record
During the press conference, Shubman Gill was asked about Rohit Sharma's record for losing four consecutive tosses in the tournament. Gill was asked whether it affects his mental preparation as a batter or not.
However, the young India opener gave a matured reply and claimed that he is always prepared to bat first as a batter and the same thing goes with the bowlers as well. Shubman Gill also mentioned that the players talk about the toss-losing spree, but only in a light way.
"Not really because as a batsman, you're always prepared to bat first and if you're getting to bat second, that means you are chasing a total. So, it doesn't really matter because if you're a bowler, you're always prepared to bowl first and if you're a batsman, you're always prepared to bat first," Gill said.
"We do talk about it but in a very light way that you've lost so many tosses, but that doesn't matter," the India vice-captain added.

India has a unique record of losing tosses
India broke the record for losing the most no. of tosses in ODIs when Rohit Sharma lost the toss in the match against Pakistan some days ago. It was the 12th consecutive loss for India with the coin toss.
The previous best was the Netherlands, who had lost 11 consecutive tosses in a row. After losing the toss to Pakistan, Rohit also lost the tosses to New Zealand and Australia in the next two games to lead the tally to 14.
Out of these 14 tosses, Rohit has lost 11 while KL Rahul, who captained India in the ODI series in South Africa, lost three straight tosses in a three-match series. India will be looking to continue their winning streak despite the unluckiness at the toss.
The streak began from the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia, when India lost the match in a heartbreaking way. The last toss won by India was also against New Zealand in the 2023 World Cup semi-final when Rohit won the toss and batted first.
