Indian Cricket In Crisis!! 3 Indian Players’ Retirement Confirmed After ICC World Cup 2023. Asia Cup 2023 and ICC World Cup 2023 are two crucial tournaments that will take place back-to-back later this year. However, another entertaining series will take place between both multi-nation tournaments. IND vs AUS ODI series will be played just after Asia Cup 2023 in September and the start of the ICC World Cup on October 5.
Australia gave a big blow to Team India in an ODI series in March this year. The men-in-yellow crushed Rohit Sharma and company 2-1 in the series. After Asia Cup 2023, India will aim to avenge their defeat. After IND vs AUS ODI series, some Indian players might bid goodbye to the ODI format. Here we talk about 5 such Indian players.
IND vs AUS: 3 Indian Players Who Can Retire From ODIs After The Australia Series
3. Ravichandran Ashwin
When it comes to Tests, Ravichandran Ashwin is always part of the India squad. However, when it comes to ODIs and T20Is, the right-arm spinner rarely makes an appearance. The 36-year-old last played for Team India in January 2022.
Out of three games against South Africa in the series, he picked 1 wicket in the first two games. Later, he was dropped in the 3rd ODI. After India faced a humiliating 3-0 defeat in the series, Ashwin was never picked for the ODI team.
He is highly likely to announce his ODI retirement soon after being absent from the format for almost one and a half years. He might also announce the decision after IND vs AUS series, just before the start of the ODI World Cup 2023.

2. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was like a sun in the sky last year, playing every white-ball series for India. However, since the start of 2023, the right-arm pacer became a Blood Moon- yet to play any international game this year.
The 33-year-old was part of the T20 World Cup 2022 last year. After that, he played in the T20I series against New Zealand. The 33-year-old came up with a poor show in the series, getting just 1 wicket in the first two games.
Kumar was also released from BCCI’s central contract earlier this year. This clearly reveals that selectors are not interested to play him in the national team. Hence, he might announce his retirement from the format.

1. Shikhar Dhawan
Till last year, Shikhar Dhawan was a confirmed member of the ODI team. He played every ODI game for India as an opener. Dhawan gave a miserable show in the ODI series against Bangladesh last year in December.
In all three games, the left-handed batsman got out for three digits. India also lost the ODI series against Bangladesh, which came as a big surprise for everyone. Later, selectors tried Shubman Gill ahead of Dhawan in ODIs.
The move worked as Gill slammed a century and double century in the first six games of this year. With more than 600 runs in 2023, Gill is also the leading run-getter for India in ODIs this year.
The other opener for Team India is Rohit Sharma, who is going to lead the team for at least a few more years in ODIs. As a result, Dhawan has no chance of making an ODI comeback. Hence, he might announce his retirement after IND vs AUS ODI series.
