Sanjay Manjrekar once again has come up with few controversial words for Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Notably, Ravindra Jadeja was promoted by team India in the batting order and he came to bat at no.5 position ahead of Vice Captain Ajinkya Rahane and Wicketkeeper Batsman Rishabh Pant in the Kennington Oval, London Test match.

The spin all-rounder Jadeja continues to feature in playing XI in the England Test series. He was included in all four Test games played against England and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin continues to miss out on playing XI after the new template of 4 fast bowlers in the team.

Meanwhile, Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has opined that India is overestimating the batting ability of Ravindra Jadeja in overseas conditions. Notably, the left-hander was dismissed after scoring just 10 runs from 34 balls while batting at no.5 in the Oval Test match.

“I think the T20 way of thinking has come in. I think they overestimated the ability of Jadeja to play at No. 5. In these conditions, it was a disaster waiting for him. I think Indian cricket is overestimating Jadeja’s batting ability in overseas conditions,” said Manjrekar on Sony Sports.

Further, Sanjay Manjrekar added that if India sends Ravindra Jadeja out to bat in the number 5 position in the sub-continent then it’s fine. However in the English condition where the ball is swinging it was a horrible decision by Indian management.

“In India, send him at No. 5, there is going to be no problem. In these conditions, we saw while he was out there when the ball was swinging, he didn’t look comfortable,” added Manjrekar

So far Ravindra Jadeja had done a good job for India in the 5-match Test series against. Although he hasn’t contributed much with the ball still based on batting abilities he has been given the spot in playing XI. Meanwhile, A lot will be dependent on the Oval Test match, if Jadeja fails to leave an impact then India might finally think to include off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the team.
