Indian Players Are More At Ease Under Ajinkya Rahane Than Virat Kohli: Dilip Vengsarkar

Former India captain, Dilip Vengsarkar makes a bold statement on the leadership of Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane. Vengsarkar’s comments came after India’s historic victory in Melbourne and a memorable draw in Sydney against Australia.
The Indian team, under Rahane, has won three matches and drawn a solitary game. In the third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series against Australia, India batted out 4 sessions for 131 overs to prevent a loss. The draw in Sydney means that Australia has to win the fourth and the last Test of the series to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, otherwise the visitors would retain it having won the series a couple of years ago.
The team has really blossomed under the leadership of Rahane: Dilip Vengsarkar
Dilip Vengsarkar pointed out that Rahane pulled the team out of the horror of Adelaide – India succumbed to its all-time lowest Test total of 36 – and battling with injuries to win in Melbourne and eke out a draw at the SCG.
“The team has really blossomed under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane. India were bundled out for 36 and lost the match (in the first Test in Adelaide) but the way Rahane led the team after the Adelaide defeat is amazing. Ajinkya showed tremendous character,” Dilip Vengsarkar told Times of India.
“Players are more at ease under Rahane. He has given the freedom to his players. Freedom is the top most thing that Rahane has injected into the team. Not just Ashwin and Jadeja, the youngsters Siraj, Saini, and Gill also impressed in the series. Ajinkya has done a fantastic job in Virat’s absence,” Dilip Vengsarkar added.
