Indian Test cricket veteran Cheteshwar Pujara has announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket; fans pen their emotions on Twitter as they bid goodbye to the legendary Test batter from India.
After a successful Test career with the Indian team and a decade-long service as India's No. 3 in red-ball cricket, the Rajkot boy, Cheteshwar Pujara, bids adieu to all forms of international cricket. Pujara has represented India in the Test format and would always be deemed a veteran in the game.
Pujara's retirement marks the end of almost a golden era in Indian Test cricket, since the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin have all retired from the format, and Ajinkya Rahane has not been featured in the Indian team ever since 2023. Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah remain as the two stalwarts from the legendary phase of Indian red-ball cricket.
Fans react to Cheteshwar Pujara's retirement
Pujara has played for India in the Test and ODI formats ever since his debut back in 2010 against the Australians. Though Pujara could not shine as a cricketer in the white-ball formats, his contributions to Indian red-ball cricket seem endless.
Having played in 100+ Tests for India, he has played some memorable games over the years where he has made bowlers toil hard on the field with his never-give-up attitude and frustrating brand of defensive work rate.
It's sad to see, one off greatest of game is going out without getting last test match and farewell on ground...

If Dravid was the wall, you were shield. And you should be proud that you were still a better T20 striker of the ball than Babar Azam, despite achieving all you did in tests. Respect.

It's been great watching you, Pujara, over the years. You were the true wall of the Indian Test side after Rahul Dravid. An exceptional cricketer, ready to take blows to win matches for his country. Your Gabba innings is one of my favorites. Happy retirement, brother! 🙌🏻

123 & 71 against Australia at Adelaide in the 2018 Border-Gavaskar Trophy came under a scenario when Indian cricket was going through a bad phase, as they had faced repeated losses against South Africa and the English side. Cheteshwar Pujara was the highest run-getter in the match and later the series, and India claimed their maiden BGT on Australian soil.
