Parth Jindal, co-owner of the Delhi Capitals (DC), expressed his disagreement with India’s 15-man squad selected for the T20 World Cup, which will be held in Oman and the UAE in October-November. The squad was announced by the BCCI earlier in the month.

Parth Jindal reckoned the selector must be regretting some of their selections looking at the performance of the excluded players during the ongoing second leg of IPL 2021 in the UAE. Opener Shikhar Dhawan was left out from the squad plus reserves and Shreyas Iyer, who has returned from injury, is among the three reserve players.

With over 400 runs Dhawan is currently amongst the leading run-scorer of IPL 2021, while Iyer has played two match-winning knocks on his return to the IPL. After Delhi’s victory on Sunday over Rajasthan Royals, Parth Jindal took to Twitter to air his views.

“The selectors must be wondering why they made some of the decisions they did – our T20 World Cup squad doesn’t have some of our best batsman – any guesses who?” Parth Jindal tweeted.

Parth Jindal also opined that India’s best short-format spinner is also not in the T20 World Cup squad. He tagged Royal Challengers Bangalore’s official Twitter handle in the post, indicating that he hinted at Yuzvendra Chahal’s exclusion. Mumbai Indians’ Rahul Chahar has been selected as the leg-spinner in the squad over Chahal.

“India’s best spinner in T20 is missing too,” the Delhi co-owner added.

Chahal, who had been off-colour earlier in the year, returned to form with a three-wicket haul against MI.

India take on Pakistan in their opening encounter on October 24 in Dubai. They will then meet New Zealand, Afghanistan, and two other teams who will qualify from Round 1 in the Super 12 stage.

India 15-man squad: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami.

Reserves: Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur
