The 21-year-old India Women’s National Cricket Team player Jemimah Rodrigues has been ruled out of the remainder of The Hundred competition after suffering an injury, as per a report in the News18.
Jemimah represents Northern Superchargers in England’s The Hundred competition and she was only able to play two games in the ongoing season of the competition before an injury ruled her out of the entire tournament.
She smashed a magnificent half-century in the first game of the ongoing season of the tournament against Oval Invincibles. The 21-year-old scored 51 runs off 32 balls, including 8 fours, at the Kennington Oval, London to help her side post 143/5 on the board.
However, Oval Invincibles chased down the target with 16 balls remaining with the help of outstanding batting performances of Suzie Bates, Lauren Winfield-Hill and Alice Capsey to win the match by 9 wickets.
In her second game of the season, she was only able to score 2 runs off 5 balls, before getting dismissed by Freya Davies. However, Northern Superchargers won that game against London Spirit by 5 runs at the Headingley, Leeds.
Gaby Lewis To Step In For Jemimah Rodrigues
The 21-year-old Ireland Women’s National Cricket Team all-rounder Gaby Lewis will now be stepping in for Jemimah Rodrigues in the team.
However, Jemimah’s absence will leave a big hole in Superchargers’ campaign considering she was their highest run-getter in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2021.
She had smashed 249 runs in just seven innings at an excellent strike rate of 151. Also, she finished as the second highest run-getter in last year’s tournament, just behind Dane van Niekerk’s 259 runs tally for Oval Invincibles that came in 9 innings.
Talking further about Jemimah, she was part of the India Women’s National Cricket Team that recently won the silver medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022 at the Edgbaston, Birmingham. She scored 146 runs for India Women’s National Cricket Team in the marquee tournament to finish as the fifth-highest run-getter.
