After a match-winning knock against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021 encounter, AB de Villiers said that his favourite shot in the match was the six off Kagiso Rabada’s delivery over mid-wicket. AB de Villiers helped his team Royal Challengers Bangalore reach a respectable total with his 75-run knock off 42 balls. The Virat Kohli and boys managed to outplay Delhi Capitals by 1 run in the match.

Ab de Villiers took charge of the batting after arriving at the crease in the 9th over.  The South African batsman smashed 5 sixes and 3 boundaries during his quickfire knock of 75 runs. De Villiers also won his 25th player of the match award after the victory, the most by any player in IPL so far.

De Villiers also reached 5000 runs in IPL and became the 6th player and only 2nd overseas player after David Warner to reach the milestone.

Six Off Kagiso Rabada’s Ball Was My Best Shot: AB De Villiers

While talking during the post-match presentation, De Villiers revealed which was his best shot during the match.

“The shot over extra cover (off the bowling of Marcus Stoinis) was certainly one of the best shots, no offence to KG (Kagiso Rabada), my shot off him one over midwicket was my best one. I don’t often get him away, but I’m happy I managed to get him away for that one,” said AB de Villiers.

AB de Villiers praised the bowlers in his team, asserting that RCB has some young Indian bowlers who have a lot of confidence.

“We have some experienced heads and some young Indian bowlers who have done well internationally recently. They come in with a lot of confidence. Myself, Virat Kohli and Maxi (Glenn Maxwell) chip in with some help when we can too,” AB de Villiers further said.

AB de Villiers’ blistering knock emerged as very crucial for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the match. RCB batted first and lost their openers Virat Kohli (12) and Devdutt Padikkal (17) cheaply. Later, Glenn Maxwell also lost his wicket at 25 runs. However, AB de Villiers played a fabulous knock to take the scoreboard to a good total.

Later, Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer smashed the fifties. However, RCB’s Mohammed Siraj managed to defend 14 runs in the last over, pulling the victory for RCB by 1 run in the end. After the victory, RCB moved to the top spot with 5 wins in 6 games.
