Australian cricketer Nathan Ellis has bagged a contract with an IPL franchise for the UAE leg of the 2021 season. The right-arm pacer earlier made headlines for making it into Australia‘s squad for the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021.  Nathan Ellis has been named as a reserve player for the Australian squad for the ICC tournament, which is slated to commence on October 17, 2021, in UAE.

Along with Ellis, Dan Christian and Daniel Sams are the other two players who are part of the reserved category. Aaron Finch will lead the team in ICC T20 World Cup 2021 along with Pat Cummins as the vice-captain. Nathan Ellis recently made his international debut during Australia vs Bangladesh T20I 2021 series.

The 26-year-old player attracted the spotlight with a hat-trick in his debut match. Picking 5 wickets in 2 games, he emerged as a powerful bowler during Australia’s miserable 4-1 loss to Bangladesh in the series.

Nathan Ellis Bags Contract With Unnamed Franchise For IPL 2021 UAE Leg

According to reports, there were three IPL franchises that were interested to buy the Australian pacer in their squad for the 2nd leg of IPL 2021 and Ellis has sealed a deal with one of them. Notably, the Aussie pacer went unsold in the IPL 2021 auctions earlier this year.

Now, his astonishing international debut performance and T20I World Cup 2021 selection have enabled him to attract buyers for IPL 2021.

While some Australian players like Steve Smith, David Warner, and Glenn Maxwell are going to play in the 2nd leg of IPL 2021, some others like Pat Cummins, Kane Richardson, Jhye Richardson, and Riley Meredith are not expected to return. This has forced IPL franchises to find replacements for such players and Nathan Ellis is one of such replacements.
