Chennai Super Kings [CSK] bowling coach Laxmipathy Balaji and a bus driver have returned positive for Covid-19 following their second RT-PCR test while CEO Kasi Viswanathan has returned negative.

The CSK CEO, bowling coach Balaji and a bus driver had tested positive for Covid on Sunday but a top BCCI official had declared the cases as ‘false positives.

But the source close to CSK has confirmed that while Kasi Viswanathan has returned negative on the second test, the same is not the case with Balaji and the bus driver.

“Three members of CSK contingent, CEO Kasi, bowling coach L Balaji and a bus driver had tested positive in the morning followed by a negative Rapid Antigen test report,” the source said, as per PTI.

“However second RT-PCR report found Balaji and bus driver positive again. The others in the team especially playing members have tested negative,” he added.

The IPL has been jolted by significant bio-bubbles breaches in the past 24 hours. It all started when two Kolkata Knight Riders cricketers- Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier- tested positive for Covid which forced the BCCI to reschedule Monday’s fixture between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Ahmedabad.

Apart from KKR players and CSK staff members, there were reports that five groundsmen in Delhi had tested positive for the Wuhan virus.

However, Delhi and Districts Cricket Association [DDCA] chief, Rohan Jaitely, confirmed to PTI that ”none of the groundsmen on duty” are among them.
