Indian commentator Aakash Chopra has said that Delhi Capitals made a huge miscalculation in bowling during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2021. Marcus Stoinis bowled the 20th over and RCB’s AB de Villiers hit him for 23 runs in 6 balls, taking the scoreboard to 171-5 batting first.

Marcus Stoinis bowled only 1 over in the match and emerged very expensive. Amit Mishra, who conceded only 27 overs in his 3 overs, wasn’t allowed to bowl his 4th over. Since Delhi Capitals’ top pace bowlers like Ishant Sharma, Kagiso Rabada, and Avesh Khan had already completed 4 overs till the 19th over, Delhi Capitals went ahead with Marcus Stoinis for the 20th over.

Delhi Capitals Made Miscalculation While Bowling: Aakash Chopra

While analyzing the Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore match on his Youtube channel, Aakash Chopra said that Delhi Capitals made a huge miscalculation by giving the 20th over to Marcus Stoinis.

“171 was a huge score but there was also a huge miscalculation. Amit Mishra was bowling well, he had dismissed Maxwell and you didn’t give him the fourth over. You held him back and couldn’t bowl him later. Stoinis bowled the 20th over and it went for 23 runs,” said Chopra.

Chopra also said that Delhi Capitals should have allowed Amit Mishra to bowl his 4th over earlier in the match and kept an over of their prime pacers for the end.

“Game, set and match – that was the difference in the end because you lost the match by just one run. Mishra should have bowled earlier and you could have kept an over of Avesh, Rabada or Ishant for the end. It was Stoinis’ first over of the match and AB was there at the other end, absolutely not right,” Chopra further said.

Chasing 172 for victory, Delhi Capitals remained 1 run short of victory. Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer smashed half-centuries in the match. In the final over, Delhi Capitals needed to score 14 runs but Mohammed Siraj managed to defend the target by 1 run.

RCB moved to the top of the points table after the victory while Delhi Capitals slipped to the 3rd spot. Delhi Capitals will lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in their next match of IPL 2021.
