Former Australia speedster Brett Lee was all praises for India’s young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and spoke highly of him. He also mentioned that he was very happy that Pant’s Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) franchise, Delhi Capitals (DC) made him captain.
Rishabh Pant has been in terrific form and there has been an increase in numbers of his fans everywhere since his heroics in the Test series in Australia, where his 97 in Sydney Test and 89* in Brisbane helped India win the series 2-1 and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He continued his top form against England, making one century and two half-centuries in the series.

Rishabh Pant will captain Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2021 after Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of the tournament with an injured shoulder.

Rishabh Pant was entrusted with captaincy by DC despite the presence of three big names who all have captained teams in the IPL previously- Steve Smith, Ajinkya Rahane and R Ashwin. Brett Lee believes that Pant, who is the ‘future of Indian cricket’, can make the most of the leadership opportunity.
“Pant is the future of Indian cricket. I like him because he is cheeky without being too arrogant, he is funny without being not serious enough. He has the right blend to be a successful cricketer,” Lee said on the show titles T20 Crazy on SportsAdda.

“I like the fact that they’ve given Rishabh Pant the opportunity to captain. I like that they’ve given him a little extra responsibility with his captaincy and batting. He’s got so much to bring to the team,” he added.

Furthermore, Lee felt that the Ricky Ponting- Rishabh Pant combination will do wonders for the Delhi Capitals team, who will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their first match of IPL 2021 in Mumbai. He also called Rishabh Pant a great find for India and Delhi.

“He is such a great find for India, a great find for Delhi. I believe also that the combination between Rishabh Pant and coach Ricky Ponting, that will be a great little combination there. Two wonderful powerhouses coming together. Ponting’s leadership qualities will rub off right on him,” Lee added.
