Zaheer Khan, who is Director of Cricket Operations for Mumbai Indians, has praised pacer Jaspirt Bumrah and wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan. Former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan said that Jasprit Bumrah is Mumbai Indians’ trump card and Kishan is looking assured and calmed in IPL 2021. His words came after Mumbai Indians lost their IPL 2021 opener to Royal Challengers Bangalore by 2 wickets.
Ishan Kishan scored 28 runs off 19 balls at a tough batting pitch at MA Chidambaram Stadium against RCB. Jasprit Bumrah took two crucial wickets of Virat Kohli and Daniel Christian during the match that emerged as breakthroughs for Mumbai Indians in the game. However, Mumbai Indians lost by 2 wickets in a match that derived the result on the very last ball.
Ishan Kishan In A Good Zone, Says Zaheer Khan
While speaking to ANI during a virtual press conference, former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan said that Ishan Kishan is in the same good zone as he was in the last season.
“Ishan Kishan is looking assured, he is looking calmer. When you are growing as a cricketer, you are trying to make that impact at the highest level, you have that tipping point.
“The last year was a tipping point for Ishan when he played that knock against RCB, he just flourished from there, he is in the same zone, he is going about his business, he is making sure that he is continuing his processes and spending enough time in the nets,” said Zaheer Khan.
When questioned on why Jasprit Bumrah did not bowl much at the start of the innings against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Zaheer said that his team needs to use Bumrah in an aggressive manner as he is our trump card.
“Bumrah is your trump card, when you have a trump card, then you have to use it in an aggressive manner when you really need it. That is how the process revolves around Jasprit, he can turn the game around at any stage,” Zaheer Khan further said.
After losing the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians are placed on the 5th spot on the IPL 2021 points table with 0 points. Delhi Capitals are stationed on the top spot with 2 points and the highest net run rate. Mumbai Indians will lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday (April 13) at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
