Vaughan also said that Kolkata Knight Riders don’t look electric on the field in IPL 2021. His words come after Kolkata Knight Riders lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore by 38 runs in IPL 2021.
Kolkata Knight Riders needed 44 runs in the final two overs against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Andre Russell was on strike. He tried to hit Mohammed Siraj for boundaries and denied taking any single. However, he struggled to hit boundaries and could only manage 1 single run off the last ball.
Kolkata Knight Riders Don’t Look Electric On The Field: Michael Vaughan
While speaking to Cricbuzz, former English cricketer Michael Vaughan said that Andre Russell is always using his feet while fielding.
“When you got player like Andre Russell, who has been a superstar, but on the field, when the ball is coming to him, he is always using his feet. He is obviously someone who cannot go down. It’s a very clever and careful aspect which Eoin Morgan will have to manage,” Michael Vaughan said.
Michael Vaughan also pointed out that Russell appears to be struggling on the field.
“When he is at his best, he is great. But when you see him on the field, and when is bowling, he appears to be struggling. While batting he is not taking the twos. He needed to take the twos in the 19th over. Because you want him back on strike. Very difficult to manage for Brendon McCullum and Eoin Morgan,” Michael Vaughan added.
Vaughan also said that Kolkata Knight Riders do not look electric on the field. He also said that it is a bad look for the team when they have got a player who is struggling with his body.
“I think in modern-day cricket, you need 9-10 players in a team who are absolutely agile on the field. But when you see KKR on the field, they don’t look electric. It’s a difficult one. How can you leave at Russell.
“But when you look at him on the field, and when he is bowling. it’s a bad look for the team when you got a player who is really struggling with his body,” Michael Vaughan further said.
Royal Challengers Bangalore bombarded KKR bowlers with a lot of runs, taking the scoreboard to 204-4 while batting first. Andre Russell conceded 38 runs in his two overs. While bating, no KKR batsman could take charge as 4 crucial batsmen lost their wicket in their 20s. With 1 victory in 3 matches, KKR is placed on the 6th spot in IPL 2021 points table.
