IPL 2021: 'Mark Of A Great T20 Batsman': Mohammad Kaif Lauds DC Batsman For Being Solid Even When Playing Fearless Cricket

Delhi Capitals (DC) have found themselves on a roll in the ongoing IPL 2021 as they registered their second win in three matches defeating the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in dominating fashion. DC assistant coach Mohammad Kaif was all praises for the batsman who helped DC win the match and also won the Man of the Match as well.

Punjab Kings was put in to bat first after DC captain Rishabh Pant won the toss. KL Rahul made 61 and Mayank Agarwal slammed 69 in 36 balls as the opening duo added 122 runs for the first wicket. However, after that, PBKS innings couldn’t gather much momentum, but thanks to a 13-ball 22 from Deepak Hooda and 5-ball 12 from Shahrukh Khan helped them to 195/4 in 20 overs.

The Delhi Capitals chase was anchored by Shikhar Dhawan who slammed 92 in 49 balls with 13 fours and 2 sixes to his name at a strike rate of 187.75. Prithvi Shaw made 32, Marcus Stoinis made 27* and took the DC team to the win with 10 balls to spare and 6 wickets in hand.

Shikhar Dhawan has been in terrific form, since the IPL 2020, where he scored 2 back-to-back centuries and totaled 618 runs at a strike rate of 144.73. in the ongoing IPL 2021, Dhawan has scored 186 runs in 3 matches thus far with 2 half-centuries at a strike rate of 163.15. He has also already scored 85 against the Chennai Super Kings as well and now holds the Orange Cap for most runs in the ongoing IPL tournament.

Mohammad Kaif, DC coach, lavished praise on Dhawan for his “fearless” approach against Punjab Kings on Sunday. He said that Dhawan is a rare batsman who looks solid at the crease albeit playing fearless cricket. The former Indian cricketer also termed Dhawan as an “IPL Super Star”.

Delhi Capitals will now play their next two games at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, in Chennai.
