IPL 2021, Match 04: Rajasthan Royals (RR) vs Punjab Kings (PBKS)- Toss Report
Rajasthan Royals (RR) have won the toss against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and elected to field first. As far as the Punjab Kings are concerned, they also didn’t mince a single penny as they went after Australian pacer Jhye Richardson and bought him for INR 14 Crores. They also splashed the cash on another Australian quick, Riley Meredith, who was bought for INR 8 Crores.
The most notable inclusion in their side was of Dawid Malan, the number 1 T20I batsman in international cricket. Punjab Kings also got the likes of young Indian batsman, Shahrukh Khan. With Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran already in the setup, it will be interesting to see how Punjab Kings line up in their opening fixture of IPL 2021.
Punjab Kings (Playing XI): KL Rahul(w/c), Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Deepak Hooda, Shahrukh Khan, Jhye Richardson, Murugan Ashwin, Riley Meredith, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh
Rajasthan Royals (Playing XI): Jos Buttler(w), Manan Vohra, Ben Stokes, Sanju Samson(c), Riyan Parag, Shivam Dube, Rahul Tewatia, Chris Morris, Shreyas Gopal, Chetan Sakariya, Mustafizur Rahman
Rajasthan Royals Will Miss The Services Of Jofra Archer
One very notable exclusion from the Rajasthan Royals‘ perspective will be that of English pacer Jofra Archer who is all set to miss the first half of IPL 2021 due to the injury that he sustained during India vs England Test series. Archer returned to England after the T20I series and had his surgery done.
However, Rajasthan have got the likes of English all-rounder Liam Livingstone and Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman who can fill in the spot. Mustafizur won’t be available for selection in the fixture against Punjab Kings as he is serving his quarantine and hence, Rajasthan is more likely to go ahead with Liam Livingstone.
