IPL 2021, Match 2: Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals (CSK vs DC) – Match Preview
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
IPL 2020 was the exceptional year for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) who finished in the seventh position in the points table, which was their first experience to finish below the top four in an IPL edition. In the IPL 2021, MS Dhoni-led CSK will try to prove that it was only a rare tough period for them.
While CSK hugely missed Suresh Raina in the last season, they will be now happy with his presence who will face some challenges and need to prove his form in this tournament. While Ruturaj Gaikwad hugely impressed in the late moment of the last IPL edition, Narayanan Jagadeesan is another strong option for the opening who recently performed incredibly in domestic cricket.
Apart from Raina, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni’s form will be the key factors in their batting side. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has just recovered from the injury while CSK will want their old Dwayne Bravo form. However, Sam Curran is also growing up as a special all-rounder.
Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood will miss this entire IPL 2021 while Australian left-arm pacer Jason Behrendorff has just been added to the squad, who will miss at least the first two games of this tournament. South African pacer Lungi Ngidi will also miss the first match due to quarantine rules.
Indian pacers Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur are their main pacers. The South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir can now get matches in this IPL season.
Robin Uthappa, Mitchell Santner, Krishnappa Gowtham, Moeen Ali etc can also play crucial roles for CSK in this IPL season. The most interesting part is that how they will utilise Cheteshwar Pujara in this IPL season.

Delhi Capitals (DC)
Just like CSK, Delhi Capitals (DC) also had an exceptional experience in the IPL 2020 but in a positive way as they played their first-ever final in any tournament, where they lost against Mumbai Indians (MI) and finished the tournament as the runners-up.
Ahead of the IPL 2021, Delhi Capitals have got a huge blow as their captain Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out due to a shoulder injury. So, Rishabh Pant will lead the Delhi franchise in the IPL 2021. They are the really strong side as they have the players like Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw, Shimron Hetmyer etc in the batting, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma etc in the pace bowling, Ravichandran Ashwin and Amit Mishra in the spin bowling along with the quality all-rounders like Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel and Chris Woakes.
The additions of Steven Smith, Sam Billings, Tom Curran and Umesh Yadav have made the team stronger as they can play major roles for the team.
