Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have won the toss in match 21 of IPL 2021 and elected to bowl first in Ahmedabad against Punjab Kings (PBKS). The first leg of IPL 2021 has finally come to an end with all the matches scheduled at Mumbai and Chennai having been completed. Now, the caravan of IPL 2021 shifts to Ahmedabad and this will be the first match of IPL being played at the newly-built Narendra Modi Stadium.
Punjab Kings have had a poor start to IPL 2021 as they have won only a couple of matches so far in the league out of the five games that they have played. They are coming from a winning momentum as they beat Mumbai Indians in the last game. KKR, on the other hand, have had the poorest start to IPL 2021 having lost 4 of the five matches that they have played so far.
IPL 2021, Match 21: Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)- Toss Report
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have won the toss in match 21 of IPL 2021 and elected to bowl first in Ahmedabad against Punjab Kings (PBKS). As far as both the teams are concerned, Nicholas Pooran has consistently failed with the bat for Punjab, and with Dawid Malan in the ranks of the side, they might go ahead with Malan in this game.
Kolkata Knight Riders, on the other hand, have been suffering because of the poor batsmanship from their batters. Shubman Gill has looked out of place throughout the tournament so far and KKR skipper, Eoin Morgan, has also failed to make an impact with the bat this season. Andre Russell’s batting order will once again be a decision to bother for KKR.
Kolkata Knight Riders (Playing XI): Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Sunil Narine, Eoin Morgan(c), Dinesh Karthik(w), Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Shivam Mavi, Prasidh Krishna, Varun Chakravarthy
Punjab Kings (Playing XI): KL Rahul(w/c), Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Deepak Hooda, Nicholas Pooran, Moises Henriques, Shahrukh Khan, Chris Jordan, Mohammed Shami, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh
Toss Could Prove To Be A Crucial Factor In The Game
It is notable that the game between PBKS and KKR will be the first IPL match in the newly-built Narendra Modi Stadium. Hence, it will be a bit difficult to assess the conditions. However, winning the toss and fielding first will always be a safe option as dew is always a consistent factor while playing in Indian conditions.
KL Rahul, the Punjab Kings captain, had a very poor outing the last time that team India played in a T20I series at the Narendra Modi Stadium against England. However, he has gained back his form in the IPL and the Punjab-based franchise can once again expect a rock-solid performance from their skipper.
