Mumbai Indians’ pacer Trent Boult has said that his team’s middle-order batsmen are not too pleased with their batting performances in the 4 games in IPL 2021 so far. Trent Boult’s words came as the middle-order of Mumbai Indians has largely failed to lead the team to a good total while batting. In 4 matches so far at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Mumbai Indians have not able to cross the 160-run mark.

Mumbai Indians batted first in all the 4 games they have played so far. They have not been able to reach a good total while batting first, making the job of bowlers harder in the 2nd innings. In the 4 games, Mumbai Indians have scored 159-9, 152-10, 150-5, and 137-9. While Mumbai Indians have managed to get good runs at the start, they have succumbed while scoring runs in the middle and death overs.

Mumbai Indians’ Middle-Order Is Not Too Pleased: Trent Boult

While speaking to ANI, Mumbai Indians bowler Trent Boult said that Mumbai Indians’ middle-order is not pleased with how things have gone so far. But he also mentioned that guys are hungry to give a good performance in the next game against Punjab Kings.

“I am sure the middle-order is not too pleased with how things have gone so far. I know the guys are hungry and desperate to put in a good performance in our last game in Chennai. Not an ideal start, we would like few more runs on the board.

“The strength of the side is fighting till the end and the bowlers have managed to do that. It should be an exciting game against Punjab, hopefully, we will get few more runs on the board,” Trent Boult said.

The New Zealand cricketer Boult also spoke about the role of dew on Indian grounds.

“It is definitely tricky when the ball gets wet like that. The other night was the worst it has been in terms of dew. In terms of being a foreign player, it is something we are not used to in New Zealand.

“But it is part and parcel here, as bowlers you need to be able to execute some kind of deliveries so that is a good challenge. Ideally, you want to see an even contest between bat and ball,” Trent Boult further said.

Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard have come under scrutiny for not being able to give a good finish to Indians while batting. Ishan Kishan has also not managed to score many runs for the team. Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, and Hardik Pandya have only managed to score 67, 49, and 35 runs respectively in 4 matches so far.

However, in spite of low totals, Mumbai Indians have managed to bag victory in 2 games with the backing of their bowlers. Indians defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 10 runs while defending 152 and Sunrisers Hyderabad by 13 runs while defending 150.  With 2 wins and 2 losses, Mumbai Indians are placed on the 4th spot in the IPL 2021 points table.
