IPL 2021: Punjab Kings (PBKS) Full Schedule, Squad, Date, Time, And Venue For The Second Phase

Much like the previous year, Punjab Kings didn’t have an auspicious start to its IPL 2021 campaign. They won their first game but then suffered three consecutive defeats. In their next two games, however, they managed to secure two wins. PBKS are currently placed at number six position, with 3 wins in 8 matches.

KL Rahul was once again consistent with the bat but his strike rate raised a lot of eyebrows. Mayank Agarwal too supported well but a poor run from the middle order led to their downfall. Nicholas Pooran had a horrendous first half, while Chris Gayle lacked consistency.

The bowling department too looked rusty. The likes of M Shami, R Meredith, and K Richardson failed to make an impression. Both Richardson and Meredith have been ruled out of the second phase of IPL 2021, citing injury concerns. The young rising Australian star, Nathan Ellis has been added as a replacement for Richardson. The franchise are currently in talks with a few more players to find a suitable replacement for Meredith.

PBKS are still very much in contention for making it into the playoffs. KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran are in outstanding form with the bat. If they could continue their form in IPL in UAE remains to be seen.

PBKS are yet to leave for UAE to start their preparatory camp ahead of the second phase of IPL 2021. As per reports, they are likely to depart by the end of this month. They will begin their UAE campaign against Rajasthan Royals on 21^st September 2021 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
