IPL 2021: Rishabh Pant Can Become Team India’s Captain In Future; Has Same Aura Like Sourav Ganguly And MS Dhoni, Feels Pragyan Ojha 

Former Indian cricketer Pragyan Ojha feels that Rishabh Pant has the potential to become the skipper of the Indian team in the future. Ojha’s opinion comes after Rishabh Pant is doing a good job while leading Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021. Pant was appointed as the skipper of Delhi Capitals after the team’s regular skipper Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of IPL 2021 due to injury.

Under skipper Rishabh Pant, Delhi Capitals have won 4 matches out of 6 in IPL 2021 so far. In their previous game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals lost by just 1 run. Rishabh Pant played a great knock after his team lost some early wickets but failed to pull off the victory in the last over. Needing 10 runs off the final two balls, Pant managed to hit two boundaries.

Rishabh Pant Can Become Team India’s Captain In Future: Pragyan Ojha

While speaking to Sports Today, former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha said that he feels Rishabh Pant can lead the Indian team in the future if he continues to bat the way he does.

“The way he has led his team. Somehow I get a feeling that in the years to come if Rishabh Pant bats the way he has been batting and shows this maturity, he can be the captain. He is showing that. When you talk about a player, the aura around him shows it. It makes me feel that this is the guy who can be the captain of the Indian team,” Pragyan Ojha said.

Pragyan Ojha also said that Rishabh Pant has the same aura as former team India skippers Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni.

“That’s what I feel after reading about him after talking to people about him. This is the same aura that was created about Sourav Ganguly, created about MS Dhoni. So that is how it is. I feel he can. It’s still far away.

“But right now, the way he is developing himself as a player and as a leader, that is something that the think tank should have a close look at. Under Ravi (Shastri) bhai, I think he will develop,” Pragyan Ojha added.

Earlier, Rishabh Pant had revealed that coach Ricky Ponting and seniors in his squad help him a lot to lead the team. With 4 victories in 6 matches, Delhi Capitals hold the 3^rd spot in the IPL 2021 points table. Delhi Capitals will lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in their next game. The match will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 28.
