Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Harshal Patel bowled two waist-high full tosses during IPL 2021 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, the umpires allowed him to continue bowling in the match. SRH skipper David Warner was not happy with the umpires over their decision.

However, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Trevor Bayliss coach Thas called the umpires’ decision right and explained the reasons why the umpires did not stop the right-arm pacer Harshal Patel from bowling.

According to ICC rules, a bowler will be barred from bowling in the match after receiving two warnings from the umpires for bowling waist-high full tosses or beamers in the same match. Harshal Patel bowled a waist-high full toss to Jason Holder in the 18th over.

Again in the 20th over, he bowled a similar delivery to Rashid Khan. While umpires called both the deliveries as no-ball, they didn’t stop Patel from bowling.

Umpires Got That One Right, Says SRH Coach Trevor Bayliss

While speaking during the post-match press conference, SRH coach Trevor Bayliss explained why umpires were right in their decision.

“He [David Warner] was a little animated because we weren’t playing very good cricket and we lost. I think the umpires got it right. There was a bit of conjecture over obviously the second high no-ball, but the first one was not directed at the batter’s body, so that wasn’t a warning. So I think the umpires got that one right,” TrevorBayliss said.

When umpires did not debar Harshal Patel from bowling, David Warner’s disgust was clearly seen from his expressions in the dugout. Harshal Patel needed to defend 16 runs in the final over. In spite of getting hit for a boundary on a no-ball, he was able to win the match for Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 runs.

Jonny Bairstow (12), Manish Pandey (38), and Abdul Samad (0) fell prey to Shahbaz in the same over which changed the complexion of the game. Sunrisers Hyderabad lost 7 wickets in the last 5 overs and ultimately ended on the losing side by 6 runs. RCB accelerated to the top of the IPL 2021 points table after their victory.
