IPL 2021: Sunil Gavaskar Impressed By Glenn Maxwell's Form For RCB

Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar was impressed with Glenn Maxwell’s current form in IPL 2021 which has resulted in RCB winning their first four games on the trot. It is also the first time in IPL history, that RCB has managed to win all their first four games and such has been the impact of Maxwell coming into the team. He was picked up for a huge price in the auction and he is delivering for the franchise.

Maxwell has played three innings so far and has scored 176 runs at a healthy strike rate. He has been performing when the others have struggled which has shown the temperament he has. Maxwell has played spin really well and he is not looking to go into the leg side often which led to his downfall in the previous season. The key to success has been hit shot selection so far.

Sunil Gavaskar Delighted To See Maxwell Batting Well

Sunil Gavaskar was delighted to see Maxwell back in form and he made an important point of reducing the amount of burden on Kohli’s and AB Devillers shoulders. He referred to Padikkal’s form in last season which helped RCB to get to the playoffs and added that Maxwell has taken that responsibility to keep making contributions for the franchise.

“It’s great that Maxwell has come good. It has taken the pressure off Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. They know that they can rely on one more batsman to get the runs. Last time, there was Padikkal at the start of the innings who was getting the runs but this time, Maxwell has been batting extraordinarily,” said Sunil Gavaskar to Star Sports

Sunil Gavaskar Points Out Two 360 Degree Players In RCB

Sunil Gavaskar made a valid point of RCB having two 360-degree players in their team helping them to progress well. Maxwell plays the reverse sweep, the offside scoop which is very difficult shots to execute and he has been doing it to perfection. He felt pity for the bowlers playing against RCB as they have to bowl to two 360 degree bowlers.

“You could possibly say that now, RCB have another 360-degree player in Maxwell. Look at the way when he’s not just reverse-sweeping but also scooping the ball on the off-side and not only on the leg-side. And that is such a difficult shot to play.”

“He’s doing it very well, scooping on the off-side over that inner ring and that means he’s another 360-degree player. What do the bowlers do they have to bowl to two 360-degree players, ” he added

RCB has never won an IPL trophy and they might be on the way to bag their first title this year.
