Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) coach Trevor Bayliss has explained the reasons for Kane Williamson and Mohammad Nabi’s absence from the team in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). While Nabi played in SRH’s first match in IPL 2021 against Kolkata Knight Riders, Williamson is yet to arrive on the field for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The David Warner-led side lost the nail-biting match against Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 runs after failing to chase a manageable 150.

Sunrisers Hyderabad needed just 35 runs in the last 4 overs but they lost wickets in quick succession to send the match in the opposition’s favour. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s middle-order collapsed in the 17th over of Shahbaz Ahmed. Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey, and Abdul Samad lost their wickets in the same over which send the team on backfoot while chasing. As a result, many fans felt the need for experienced players like Kane Williamson and Mohammad Nabi during the match.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Kane Williamson Practised In One Of The Days – Trevor Bayliss

During the post-match presentation, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s coach Trevor Bayliss said that Kane Williamson will come along in the upcoming games and is fit to play. The New Zealand skipper Williamson had injured his elbow ahead of the Bangladesh series last month.

“We had two days of practice before the RCB game, and Kane Williamson practised in one of the days. So, he’s coming along,” said Trevor Bayliss.

Talking about Mohammad Nabi’s absence from the team in the match against RCB, Bayliss said that the Afghanistan all-rounder got hit on his head during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders and is recovering from the same. Mohammad Nabi was hit on the back of his head by KKR pacer Prasidh Krishna’s bouncer in the match.

“Mohammad Nabi got hit on the head against KKR. He’s still feeling the effects of that hit. Therefore, we played Jason Holder. He adds to our pace attack with his height and bounce. He exactly did so in this match,” Trevor Bayliss further said.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have lost two games in a row in IPL 2021 so far. Sunrisers Hyderabad fell a little short of runs while chasing in both the matches. They lost to Kolkata Knight Riders by 10 runs in their first match and then lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 runs in the 2nd match. Sunrisers Hyderabad will lock horns with Mumbai Indians in their next match. The match will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday (April 17).
