Former Indian swashbuckler Virender Sehwag has lauded Glenn Maxwell for finally bringing his A-game to the Indian Premier League after the Australian all-rounder peeled off his second consecutive half-century in IPL 2021 in the ongoing game against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Coming into IPL 2021, Maxwell was under huge pressure after he picked up for a whopping Rs 14.25 Crores by RCB despite him having an extremely poor season last year for Punjab Kings where he managed just over 100 runs with no sixes.
Glenn Maxwell has been one of the biggest underachievers in the IPL over the years. After racking up more than 500 runs in IPL 2014, the ‘Big Show’ proved to be a ‘no show’ in the succeeding seasons as he managed more than 200 runs in just one season.
But this year, Maxi has looked like a man on a mission. Having given the responsibility of batting at No.4, the Australian has proceeded to play three match-changing innings in a row.
After having smashed a 29-ball 38 and a 41-ball 59 against MI and SRH in his first two games, Maxwell was at it again against KKR as he smoked a whirlwind 49-ball 78- an innings that included nine fours and three sixes.
Maxwell has already racked up 175 runs in just three outings which is more than what he has managed throughout the entire season last year.
Following his knock, Virender Sehwag, who has been a vociferous critic of the Aussie swashbuckler in the past, lauded him for finally turning up in the IPL besides trolling his former franchises like Punjab Kings.
”Good to see Maxwell finally play to his potential in this IPL. Meanwhile Maxwell to his previous team owners” #RCBvKKR’
