IPL 2021: Watch- Kyle Jamieson Breaks Krunal Pandya's Bat

The IPL 2021 extravaganza began on April 9 with defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the opening match being played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The match saw IPL debuts of quite a few players, including Marco Jansen for MI and Rajat Patidar, and Kyle Jamieson for RCB. Jamieson was bought by RCB for Rs 15 crores in the IPL 2021 auction and replied on his debut with 27 runs in 4 overs and one wicket and one bat. Also making his RCB debut was Glenn Maxwell, while Dan Christian turned out for RCB in an IPL match after 8 years.
Chris Lynn made his Mumbai Indians IPL debut after warming the bench for the entire IPL 2020 in the UAE, as MI preferred Quinton de Kock over him on the slow, spin-friendly pitches.
Yes, Kyle Jamieson broke Krunal Pandya’s bat in the penultimate over of MI innings, leading to the left-handed batsman needing a new blade.
Krunal Pandya’s Bat Breaks Thanks To A Kyle Jamieson Thunder ball
It was the 3rd ball of the 19th over and Kyle Jamieson bowled a perfect-looking yorker to Krunal Pandya. As Pandya tried to dig it out, he had completed his swing and the bat was still intact after he’d gone through, with the swing taking it behind him. Then, the handle just separated from his bat and the blade came off.
Krunal was lucky that the blade didn’t fall back onto his stumps or that would have been the end of his innings as well, that too in a bizarre fashion. A short break ensued as Krunal called for a new bat, while the batsmen and fielders had a short drink’s break.
Krunal didn’t last long, falling on the first ball of the last over of the innings to Harshal Patel.
Meanwhile, MI managed to put just 159/9 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first by RCB captain Virat Kohli who won a rare toss. Chris Lynn top-scored for them with 49, while Suryakumar Yadav made 31 and Ishan Kishan made 28 runs.
Harshal Patel picked 5/27 and became the first bowler ever to pick a five-wicket haul against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL history. Debutant Kyle Jamieson impressed with 1/27 in his 4 overs, while Washington Sundar picked 1/7, the most valued wicket of Chris Lynn.
